James Harold Stock is an American economist and a professor of economics at Harvard University.
Stock graduated with a B.S. in physics in 1978 from Yale University. He then went to the University of California-Berkeley and completed his M.A. in 1982 and Ph.D. in 1983.
His research areas include macroeconomic forecasting, monetary policy, and econometric methods for the analysis of economic time series data. His work includes an examination of the recent evolution of the U.S. business cycle and the impact of changes in monetary policy on that evolution. He is a member of various professional boards, including the Academic Advisory Board of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston.
